3rd April Good Friday
The Suffering Servant (Isaiah 53)
Isaiah 53 describes the servant who bears the sins of many and suffers on behalf of others. This Good Friday topic reflects on Jesus’ sacrificial death, revealing God’s deep love and the cost of redemption, and inviting us to respond in repentance, gratitude, and faith. (Note: study questions for the message are released on the church’s sermon page on the Monday after each sermon, and to find them, go here and scroll until you find the Sunday listed: https://wcc.org.au/podcasts/media/series.)
Reflection/Discussion Questions:
- Which verses most clearly describe the servant suffering on behalf of others? What do they reveal about God’s plan of salvation?
- How does this passage deepen your understanding of what Jesus accomplished on the cross?
- What response does Isaiah 53 call for from those who recognise the servant’s sacrifice?
